Abid brings a unique combination of over 20 years of political, government, private sector, policy, eHealth and technology experience. Over the past two years, Abid advised clients at a public affairs and health care consulting firm. Prior to this, Abid served as a senior adviser for over five years to two Ministers of Health and Long Term Care in Ontario including as Director of Policy, playing a key role shaping the health care policy agenda of the McGuinty government. While at the Ministry, Abid led and supported health policy initiatives, guided new and contentious legislation to passage, and supported issues management.
Leveraging his health care experience and technology knowledge, Abid served in Director level roles at eHealth Ontario, the government agency charged with implementing the province’s electronic health record system. Over a period of almost six years, Abid helped to strengthen the relationship with the technology industry, provided senior leaders with insight into technology trends and supported corporate strategic planning initiatives as the Director of Vendor Relations and the Director of Strategic Solutions.
Prior to his roles in health care, Abid played a key role in technology projects at a respected financial services firm. Abid holds a BA in Economics from the University of Toronto where he began his Liberal Party activism and campaign management in the mid-1990's.
